About Our Hearing Clinic
Birmingham Speech & Hearing Associates was the first private audiology and speech clinic in Birmingham. Since 1980 we’ve provided the highest quality of care and most advanced audiology services to our patients. We have many patients and their families who have trusted us with their hearing healthcare for decades and even generations.
In 2019, leadership of Birmingham Speech & Hearing Associates passed into the hands of audiologist Dr. Leslie Crawford, who has been part of our team for more than ten years. She has continued the legacy of care and expertise that our practice has been known for and to serve the community she loves so much.
Our team members are all warm and friendly people with extensive experience and significant training in their fields. From help with hearing loss to tinnitus to the latest hearing aid technology, we offer a wide range of services to help people of all ages experience better hearing and communication.
Meet Our Team
Leslie Crawford, Au.D.
Audiologist & Owner
Leslie Crawford earned her doctorate in Audiology from the University of Florida. She received her Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders and master’s degree in Audiology from Auburn University. Leslie has been a member of the Birmingham Speech & Hearing family since 2008. She spent the first 6 years of her career as a clinical audiologist in an ENT practice where she provided diagnostic and rehabilitative hearing and balance disorder services. Leslie is nationally certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and licensed by the Alabama Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
Leslie is a native of Sylacauga, Alabama and now lives in Vestavia with her husband, Kevin, and her two children, Mac and Ann Ellison. Currently, her hobbies include whatever activities her children are doing.
Cooper Evans, Au.D.
Audiologist
Cooper Evans earned her doctorate in Audiology from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2017. She received her Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Auburn University. She has previously worked as an audiologist in Virginia and Georgia, with a focus on diagnostic audiological evaluations for patients of all ages. Cooper is passionate about following best practices in hearing aid fitting and providing patient centered hearing healthcare.
Cooper is nationally certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the American Academy of Audiology and is licensed by the Alabama Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Cooper is a native of Huntsville, AL and currently resides in Homewood with her husband, Michael, and their goldendoodle, Murphy.
Jill Byrd, Au.D.
Audiologist
Jill Byrd has worked in the field of audiology for more than 25 years. She received a master’s degree from the University of Florida and a doctorate of audiology from the University of Arizona. Jill is experienced in complete diagnostic audiological evaluations, aural rehabilitation relevant to hearing loss, hearing aids, lipreading/speechreading skills, and other various areas of general hearing healthcare. In addition to leading community education and hearing health clinics at various retirement facilities, Jill serves several of our local school districts as an educational audiologist.
Annie Laurie Sinclair
Speech-Language Pathologist
Annie Laurie Sinclair has evaluated and treated children with various speech-language disorders for more than 22 years. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication disorders from Auburn University. Annie Laurie currently belongs to the Speech and Hearing Association of Alabama and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is licensed by the Alabama Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
